Sharon Newsome, LMFT

Meet Sharon:

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel like a huge leap of faith, but it’s a courageous one. If you’re ready to begin this journey, I’m here to walk alongside you. Let’s work together to help you move towards wellness in your life. Life isn’t always easy, and sometimes it can feel overwhelming. Whether you’re feeling anxious, angry, depressed, stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed, you don’t have to face it alone. I’m here to help you navigate life’s challenges.

I have been a practicing therapist for over 30 years and have provided treatment to people with diverse ages, races and ethnicities. My approach to therapy is about creating a safe, compassionate space where you can show up just as you are. Together, we’ll explore your circumstances and work toward the growth and healing you’re seeking. Whether it’s improving communication, job stress, addressing an abuse history, or simply finding more clarity and peace, I’ll meet you where you are.

I have experience working in a psychiatric hospital setting, in an outpatient community mental health clinic, in adult substance abuse treatment, with the military, in private practice, as well outpatient clinics with Kaiser Permanente and Prisma Health. I have a specialty in treating individuals that have endured traumatic experiences. I utilize several treatment modalities and take an eclectic approach to treatment, utilizing a variety of evidence-based approaches based on the individual client’s need. I utilize Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, EMDR, Poly Vagal Therapy, Faith-based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Written Exposure Therapy during treatment. I serve late adolescents to adults, I also love providing group therapy.
